Well after 2 months playing with my New Home Server, I finally jumped on my private invite into the RubiconProject.com beta program. If any one has noticed, the Forex-Killer Banner is down. Only because i wanted to start here with The Rubicon Project. This appears to be what should become a great tool for publishers.
Basically combining a handful of Networks into a tool that rotates Banners from all these Networks, spitting out the most profitable ads, text or banner based on the content of the site and demographics each time the page is loaded. Only thing i need to do is select what banner sizes i plan on using for whatever site i intend to use and out comes the code to put in place.
Some of the Networks in this rotation of ads will be Adsense, ActiveResponseGroup, AdBrite, ClickBooth, CPAEmpire, CPXInteractive, EType, InterClick and ShopZilla. There are more available, but they may be who are in my network thru Rubicon at this time.

I believe Rubicon does all the application for you to your selected Networks. Other than your interaction with each of your approved networks on a one to one level from your account managers, the paycheck comes directly from Rubicon. I’ve noticed in the rubicon forum some have received checks already and seem to be pleased so far.
I really look forward to this to work out well because i have way to many sites and will increase my inventory or running sites 10 fold over the next year. So i expect the RubiconProject to be a very helpful tool for me.
Any other publishers out there using Rubicon are welcome to leave comments on your experience. I believe i’ve read in ShoeMoney.com that they are using this. I wonder if JohnChow.com is using it as well.
I will continue to post my experience with this in the coming weeks/months.

Last night i stumbled across a new Advertising solution. It is in private beta, you need to be reviewed and invited. Anyway, its called the Rubicon Project. It really seems to be a pretty cool advertising solution.
Basically from what i read and seem in a short movie clip was that it searches for the best paying advertising opportunities for your website, based on demographics and geographical info. It looks to have 300+ advertisers, most of what we already use.
I signed up for an opportunity and also in there forum. This is definitely a tool of the future, in beta now. I would encourage anyone with ads on there blogs or sites to sign up for this or check out the site. Rubicon also looks like it gives you options to set up accounts by yourself or they (the network) does it for you and can conveniently pay you in one check from all the advertisers. But the real value is it optimizes your site with the ads the will make YOU the most money.
There headline reads: Automatically Optimize you Ad Space. Make Mad Cash from Ads on your Website.
All i have to say is, wow, what a tool for publishers. So go and apply for the opportunity to use this and offer any feedback.

I am really kinda new to the Blog World. Really until the last six months have just bought tons of domains and worked with a couple people getting some sites developed.
But about six months ago i joined a forum, dnScoop.com and spent time getting to know some people and yes, buying domains. But i really learned alot from some pretty young people in the forum. Its a pretty tight nit forum, very resourceful, and not loaded with a bunch of spammers, which i am realizing myself what a headache that can be.
Anyway, i see the guy running the forum, Badi Jones, has a pretty impressive background, to me anyway. And found several other sites he has, one of them being SEOlogs.com . I gotta tell you, it is a massively resourceful sight. It really is a great place for the learning webmaster also. Badi seems to be one guy who doesnt try to sell a bunch of bull, he indicated may times over how a lot of this SEO stuff is also alot of OPINIONS. So suggests keeping an open mind about things. And indicates for noobees that there are not magic spells and what not for SEO. Just do your homework and things should fall into place.
Anywho, i am now on mybloglog.com and have become involved with a number of other Bloggers and tons of even more resources.
Well i really have to than Badi for that, i think it was a suggestion of his in one of his posts on dnScoop.com a while back.
But more importantly MyBlogLog.com is having a competion for ” THE MYBLOGLOG Become A PRroBlogger Contest” And Badi’s site, SEOlogs.com has grown tremendously in the contest. I believe he is in 4th Place now. I would highly recommend anyone to get involved on MyBlogLog.com and more importantly to vote for SEOlogs.com f you visit his site, you will truly understand, and even become a reader thru rss as well. Most of the time i get tons of value from his site with all the great information in it.
Anyway Badi, I wish you tons of luck to winning in the contest. You are definitely among the few who are very good at what you do !

Interview
with Michael Cheney from AdSense-Videos
Q. So what made
you get started with AdSense?
A. I
was looking for a way to monetize some of my websites. AdSense
is such an easy thing to get started with the eye for it would
be a great way to start earning more money without actually putting
into much more effort. I think as soon as you see the first earnings
coming into your account you get addicted to AdSense. I know is
what happened to me and since then I’ve just spent time working
out how to earn more and more each day.
Q. How much do
you make with AdSense?
A. Some days I can earn
close to $1000 and others it’s less than that. But it all comes
down to how much time and effort you devote to creating a quality
site that people like visiting. AdSense is not what my business
is based on by any means - but it is a great way to earn revenue
almost on autopilot.
Q. What is the
biggest mistake people making with AdSense?
A. Probably
the biggest mistake people make is thinking the AdSense earnings
are easy to achieve. It is very easy to get started but as I learned
it takes a lot of effort to increase your earnings. I got really
downhearted whenever I would log in to my account to see that
I had only made a few dollars. And that’s when I decided to spend
months and months of my time learning everything I could about
AdSense.
I basically buried myself
away and devoured every single piece of AdSense information I
could find. I ran thousands of AdSense tests and started to see
a dramatic effect on my click through ratio and therefore on my
earnings.
This is why I’d decided
to record the videos - because I knew that it would help people
who were in my position to also increase their earnings. I’ve
read an absolute ton of AdSense e-book’s but they take so long
to go through and always seem to keep information back.
With AdSense Videos I
knew that I had to tell the story exactly as it is and actually
show people and lead them by the hand through the exact techniques
that I use to generate large earnings from AdSense.
Q. In your videos
you show people how to increase their AdSense earnings - can you
give us a taster of this advice?
A. I
don’t want to give away my biggest secrets as you can understand!
But some of the more basic things that you can do to increase
your revenues include using ads that blend in rather than stand
out from your content. Flat out the worst thing you can do with
an AdSense ad is make it look like the standard Google ad. What
you need to realise is that you will get more clicks if your ad
actually appears part of your site rather than something that’s
just been dropped into the page.
Q. What would
you recommend that someone do right now to increase their AdSense
earnings?
A. I’ve
created a totally free AdSense minicourse that people can go through
to learn some of my techniques. It takes you through the four
cornerstone principles that I’ve used to build up my AdSense empire.
You can check it out, as well as all the AdSense Videos, here:

About 2 weeks ago i jumped into getting some proxy sites developed. I dont know how to buy one domain name and just try it, so i leap, and i pickup 10 domains. Well we get those put together, up and running, and i see a dollar, so i go for about 10 more domains. Now they’re up, and and we’ve got 20 domains for proxy sites. In the meantime, i pick up about 15 more domains, not yet developed. But After optimizing and submissions, and of course posting to groups several times a day, I watch. And today is the highest revenue so far, for only google adsense. And i am up to $15.00 $20.00 a day now. Doesn’t sound like much, but i haven’t really earned anything on adsense in the past.
So if i can keep that growing, maybe add the other 15 domains i purchased, hell i can live with $20 + a day coming from one little source. Thats $600 a month in my eyes. And if i can keep that steady, i can look at a dedicated server not to far down the road.
I also went into myspace, i figured that would also be an ideal place for pushing proxy sites. I got over 30 subscribers/friends on the first night, and its growing. I never really knew anything about proxy sites, but i’m learning and its another income source for me.
The way i see it, for all these domains i have, they will never go down in value. I’ll eventually weed out the junk. But in the meantime, i’m gonna have fun developing them.
I really have to much fun going in forums and buying up domains.
I’ve got an inventory of over 1500 domains, kinda like a druggy gettin there fix. All categories, Adult to Wholesaling. Must be that compulsive disorder i’ve got, lol. I have some junk and some good domains. I am really just in the process of sorting thru my 2 year buying binge and starting to get some of these developed. I try slowing down, but different circumstances are always encouraging me to pick up on other ideas(domains). I really have no intent on selling my domains, but hey, if i get the right offer, who knows. Hell, i’m still learning how to develope sites.
I guess not for nothing, if the income from proxy sites can help me pay for domain renewals(amounts to about $500 a month average) and a dedicated server, i’d be real happy right now. Although i do look forward to adding some personal income so i can eat regularly, lol. So far, revenue from some of the ads posted on this sight have been pretty descent.

This post was guest blogged by Tay of SuperBloggingTips.com. She
regularly writes about blogging resources, search engine optimization, how
to make money blogging, and
more.
Unless you’re writing for just yourself, you’re probably going to want
more traffic coming to your blog. More traffic = more money and higher
rankings! But generating traffic isn’t always easy. If you want to up your
visitor counts (and turn those visitors into readers), please read on for
ten valuable and unique tips that anyone can put to use.
1. Make a lens on Squidoo. On
Squidoo, you can sign up for free and make your own lens, or page, on any topic you want. Create a lens on a topic that is related to your blog and link to yourself. To get traffic from
Squidoo, promote your lens and get it out there so people find out about
your site. And did I mention you can money from your Squidoo lens?
2. Use Yahoo! Answers and other such communities. On
Yahoo! Answers you can ask and answer fellow people’s questions, which
cover almost any topic or idea. Find questions that relate to your niche
and begin answering. Yahoo! Answers lets you provide a source, so be sure
to link back to your blog and let everyone know where the knowledge comes
from.
3. Submit to blog carnivals. I honestly can’t stress this
one enough. The more carnivals you submit to, the more links, exposure,
and traffic you will receive. And best of all, it’s almost always targeted
traffic! To find out more about blog carnivals and what they are, please
read here.
4. Write a controversial post. Standing out in the
blogging world and separating yourself from the millions of others isn’t
always easy. But if you want to be noticed (and you do!) then you should
write a controversial post on your blog. If your opinion is different or
out of the norm, then let it be known. Not only will people respect you
for it, but they might also link to you and send visitors your way for
being so interesting.
5. Have a sense of humor. It’s good to be serious
sometimes, but no one likes reading a blog when you sound absolutely
robotic. Don’t forget that everyone wants to have some fun now and then,
so don’t be afraid to crack a joke or use your sense of humor. You do have
one, right?
6. Join and participate in forums. When you join and post
in a new forum, you’re reaching out to a lot of new, potential readers.
Add your blog’s link to your signature in the forum and link to one of
your articles whenever relevant (if allowed). Share your knowledge and do
your best to make new friends. Forums are a great way to get noticed!
7. Make a Myspace or Facebook profile. Another great way
to connect with new people is to create a profile dedicated to your site
on a social networking website. Not only can you add and keep in touch
with your current readers, but you can also meet new people and drive
traffic to your blog.
8. Give away free advertising. Either give it away for
free, or hold a competition to find a lucky winner. Whether you’re giving
away free links, banners, reviews, or something else, people appreciate
getting something of value for free. And when it’s advertising on your
site, you don’t have to pay to give it away either!
9. Write pillar posts. Pillar posts are authoritative and
instructional. Often times, they are list posts as well. They usually very
long and could take even hours to write, but are always worth it. Pillar
posts usually get many links and are noticed more than other types of
posts. If you write a really good one, you could drive a lot of traffic to
your blog.
10. Don’t pretend - be you! Don’t write posts about
something you don’t believe in. Your blog is yours, so stand out and make
it so! It’s easy to be anonymous on the internet, but no one will ever
feel a connection with you if you do. If you want more traffic and
readers, make sure they know who you are.

So people want to know how much we’ve made so far with the whole Bulge family of websites. I was thinking about not disclosing the amount but then I figured, why not?
I’m curious to see what other blogger’s earn, I might as well get the ball rolling. Since we’ve started CashBulge (3 months ago), GameBulge (1 month ago) and VidBulge (3 1/2 weeks ago) as well as TechSnap (3 month old random blog that died out) we have made a total of $959.72.
Who’s we?
Well ‘we’ would be me (Leonid Shalimov) and my partner David Murphy-Colonna. When I first started TechSnap awhile back, it was just for fun. No real intention on making money, I just wanted to set something up like PandaChute where people could come everyday to see something new and funny.
I then decided to add some advertisements from Google and maybe make a bit of money off of it. And so I did. I hit about 3 Digg and Reddit front pages and netted some great profit. That’s where the thirst for more began (as well as the idea of CashBulge).
How did we make that much money, is it all profit?
It’s not all profit. We invested about $110 into hosting, domain names, minor advertising and a few scripts (not counting the new forum software). But we’ve turned our investment and made it back more than eight fold. Now that we are set up with most of our initial costs, we can worry less about monthly incurred fees.
As far as making all the money, we went through a few ventures. I’ll list them but won’t give away how much each one made, however I will say that the bulk of profit was from direct link sales and google adsense.
1. Google AdSense
2. Direct Link Sales
3. Sponsored Reviews
4. Sponsored Posts
5. Blog Consultation
6. AdBrite
7. Affiliate Marketing
Hope that clears some things up as far as what routes we chose.
The Bulge family and its creation.
I sat down for awhile after letting go of TechSnap (letting go as far as updating it, haven’t done so in months) and decided to get serious and make a new blog and put my sweat and tears into it. I knew I would need a partner as this would be more content heavy rather than just posting videos. I went ahead and extended the idea to Dave and he loved it.
What started out as just a financial/money making blog has now turned into a video uploading site as well as a flash game arcade website. While all three sites are under major construction, the functionality and motive is there.
The introduction of the forums, contests and giveaways.
After awhile we decided to give something back to our faithful readers. After opening up the forums we held some contests and giveaways to stir activity all the meanwhile generating revenue.
Now we have went from a ‘read only’ blog to opening up a community for other like-minded individuals who now have a place to share their thoughts and ideas when it comes to running a website, making money, saving money and other business related topics.

What do you think of when you hear the word Google or Yahoo? What did you think of when you first met your spouse or significant other? How do you feel about your favorite clothing company or TV show? Everything (meaning every company or entity) has an image. Whether you realize it or not, so does your blog.
Numerous bloggers have already proved that whether or not its good or bad, a strong image is a whirlwind force to have (names such as John Chow, Perez Hilton and ShoeMoney come to mind). You cannot escape the endless image of yourself and the image of how you perceive others. Therefore you need to be wary of what kind of image you are establishing for your website or blog.
How we perceive others as well as ourselves will make the difference between a success and a failure.
You can either make or break your blog image. When people hit that frontpage of your blog that you had poured blood, sweat and tears into, they will instantly ‘cache’ an image of what they think of your website whether it be terrible, OK, good or amazing.
If you can establish your vision for your own website and mold it to your fitting, you will be more successful and get better results. How would we go about doing this?
Sit down and brainstorm, think things through.
People coming to your blog will instantly get an idea of how they feel about it, that idea will be stuck in their heads until you change it. Sit down with a piece of paper and write down some ideas as to what you want people to think when they hit your site. You can use general items to get a feel for what you want to establish and then narrow it down. So it could go something like this:
Professional -> Clean -> Simplistic -> White/Grey
You could use whatever method you feel most comfortable with. I know when I hit go to the Google home page that my brain goes “extremely easy, simple” to use, where-as when I go to Yahoo I think “cluttered and way too colorful”.
Your blog is for the masses, cater to them.
You might think that pink, black and neon green font will look freakin’ cool but I’m sure that 98% of your audience/reader’s won’t appreciate it. Cater to your reader’s, you’re not reading your own material (but I suggest you do once in awhile), you’re readers are sitting there and reading it. Figure out what they want and deliver.

As the summer winds down and it gets closer and closer to October, I find myself watching more and more baseball these days. As the top teams battle for position in the playoffs, it becomes clear which teams are focused, motivated and have not only the talent to succeed, but good management as well.
I watch baseball, not only because I am a fan of the sport, but also because I admire the athletes who play the sport despite some of the allegations against certain players. Maybe I’ll talk about that another time(when I want to compare cheating to get an advantage in the business world and baseball :-X
Most athletes are highly skilled though, have great drive and motivation, and know and perform the fundamentals to a T.
Thinking about all the great characteristics ballplayers embody, I got to thinking that all of these characteristics could translate very easily into the business world. I even dared to think that the baseball, America’s past time, is comparable to blogging. There are some things about baseball that we should keep in mind when blogging.
Bloggers should hit for average, not for home runs
Everyone wants to hit a “home run” with their money making idea, but lets face it, there are only a hand full of ideas out there that actually are “home runs.” As bloggers we need to be focusing “putting the ball in play” and getting base hits on a consistent basis, rather than swinging for the fences. Most blogs are not going to be home runs right away, it may take years of hitting for average with great content and good marketing to get big.
I am not saying not to try and make it big, but be realistic about your blog. Sure all of the great home run hitters like Bonds, Aaron, and Ruth will always be remembered but so will Pete Rose, the all time leader in base hits.
He focused on the fundamentals, just hitting the ball, time and time again, putting it in play and seeing what happens.
We as bloggers also need to be consistent, and realize that hits here and there, equal “runs” or money in the long run. We can keep the ball in play and hit for average by producing great content day in day out, seeing how people will respond.
Get the easy out
Think logically, if there are two outs and grounder is hit in the infield and a man is running home, why throw it home when you can get the out at first base for sure to end the inning. You risk throwing it away if you try to get the runner out at home.
Do not make things complicated with your blog, if there is a sure fire way to get things accomplished, do it. Do not sit there and maul over an idea that’s simple, that’s how errors are made. Just go with he flow and do not doubt yourself or your abilities. Put out content and do it the best way you know how, it will get better over time.
Playing small ball and mastering the fundamentals goes a long way
Its all about the fundamentals when it comes to great teams, they can do the little things right and know how to win when their are having an off day.
Try to make your blog that way too. Master all of the small things such as design, layout, and readability of your content.
Then play small ball by marketing your site, remember the “if you build it they will come” strategy doesn’t work with blogging. So commenting on other’s peoples blogs and posting intelligent posts on forums are all ways to play small ball and get your blog noticed. Mastering small ball will also allow you to make money when you aren’t creating that much content. People will still visit your site because you have marketed well and offered them a unique site to visit.
It’s A Long Season
Baseball’s Regular season consists of 162 games. Thats almost half a year. Compared to the NFL’s 16 games and the NBA’s 82 games there is alot of time to play with strategies and get your act together.
Blogging is the same way. Most likely you aren’t going to have a mega hit blog that is going to make you millions right away, it takes time and persistence. Do not rush. You have time to play with your strategies and design to see what works, kind of how a baseball manager manipulates his roster.
So pace yourself, because your most likely in it for the long haul. Take a look at other blog’s earlier posts, look at how they struggled and changes there strategies. There is no sense of urgency in the blogging world, this separates it from baseball.
Remember It’s Just A Game(For most of us)
With big contracts, endorsements, and cheating taking the spotlight away from the pure competition and the fun of baseball, we sometimes forget the real reaons sports are played. Money becomes the focus not, the game itself, which makes the game suffer.
I think we sometimes forget the real reasons we blog at times, which makes not only our blog suffer but our audience as well.
Yes there are people who blog for a living, and I sure wish I could, but it is just a hobby of mine as well as a learning experience. Sometimes I think I need to remember that.
There have been times when I stress myself out about the blog and creating content and articles as well as the success and monetization of the blog. But I need to remember the reasons I started this blog with Leon which were to spread my knowledge, and gain some in return while making some side cash. This will help me keep my focus on learning and producing quality content rather than putting out garbage just for the sake of money and traffic.
So whether wathcing baseball or blogging, if you take a closer look there is probably something you can learn each and everytime you watch a game, or write/read an article!

It’s true. Stumbleupon has brought me more traffic than a Digg front page could ever bring. The website in question is GameBulge which has brought in over 90,000 unique visitors since it’s opening earlier this month. Here are the recent stats:

That’s great, but now let’s analyze where all this traffic is coming from shall we?

As you can see, StumbleUpon has brought in a ridiculous amount of traffic. More than a Digg front-page (and 2nd and 3rd pages) combined.
As a result of this, I’ve had over 1,500 hits from Google in the past 2 weeks on some of the major games on GameBulge which has increased the traffic as well.
So how do I get this kind of result from StumbleUpon?
You need a powerful stumbler account and a entertaining topic. Boring lengthy articles about existentialism won’t get you anywhere. Flash games, tips & tricks and pictures are the most stumbledupon items.
To get a powerful stumble account you have to use it! Get the stumble bar and just stumble websites and give each one a thumbs up or thumbs down review. This will increase your rank and power and more people will see the sites you ‘discover’ (submit to StumbleUpon crawler).
Here is a snippet of my StumbleUpon bar homepage and the amount of sites I reviewed.

That’s it? Just stumble a lot?
Nope. That’s the biggest part but if you really want results, message other stumblers who have strong accounts and get into some discussions with them. Add them as friends and have them review your account or stumble the pages you liked but don’t spam! Be polite, courteous, and respect their time if they do indeed help you.
One last point.
Don’t only submit your own website. If you happen to find something great, stumble it. If it becomes big and gets a lot of other stumblers, your account will also become more powerful. Be active in the community and just enjoy yourself, it’s easy ;).

As we all know running your business or blog can be expensive at times. After getting started with your venture, and covering the basic expenses, sometimes we are left with little cash to work with to improve our business or blog.
In these cases we either have to sacrifice(which is a no no), or as crafty entrepreneurs, think of other ways to attain the services and goods we need for our businesses. One great way to do this is to use the barter system.
Yes I said it, the barter system, the trading system of goods and services that was once used when money didn’t exist(definition in a nut shell.) → continue reading
