Using StumbleUpon to Drive Ridiculious Amounts of Traffic to Your Blog
It’s true. Stumbleupon has brought me more traffic than a Digg front page could ever bring. The website in question is GameBulge which has brought in over 90,000 unique visitors since it’s opening earlier this month. Here are the recent stats:

That’s great, but now let’s analyze where all this traffic is coming from shall we?

As you can see, StumbleUpon has brought in a ridiculous amount of traffic. More than a Digg front-page (and 2nd and 3rd pages) combined.
As a result of this, I’ve had over 1,500 hits from Google in the past 2 weeks on some of the major games on GameBulge which has increased the traffic as well.
So how do I get this kind of result from StumbleUpon?
You need a powerful stumbler account and a entertaining topic. Boring lengthy articles about existentialism won’t get you anywhere. Flash games, tips & tricks and pictures are the most stumbledupon items.
To get a powerful stumble account you have to use it! Get the stumble bar and just stumble websites and give each one a thumbs up or thumbs down review. This will increase your rank and power and more people will see the sites you ‘discover’ (submit to StumbleUpon crawler).
Here is a snippet of my StumbleUpon bar homepage and the amount of sites I reviewed.

That’s it? Just stumble a lot?
Nope. That’s the biggest part but if you really want results, message other stumblers who have strong accounts and get into some discussions with them. Add them as friends and have them review your account or stumble the pages you liked but don’t spam! Be polite, courteous, and respect their time if they do indeed help you.
One last point.
Don’t only submit your own website. If you happen to find something great, stumble it. If it becomes big and gets a lot of other stumblers, your account will also become more powerful. Be active in the community and just enjoy yourself, it’s easy ;).
