Using The Barter System To Better Your Business or Blog

As we all know running your business or blog can be expensive at times. After getting started with your venture, and covering the basic expenses, sometimes we are left with little cash to work with to improve our business or blog.

In these cases we either have to sacrifice(which is a no no), or as crafty entrepreneurs, think of other ways to attain the services and goods we need for our businesses. One great way to do this is to use the barter system.

Yes I said it, the barter system, the trading system of goods and services that was once used when money didn’t exist(definition in a nut shell.)

So let’s say you just started a really well designed blog about a month ago, and you want to advertise it but are on tight budget.

You can find other blogs or businesses that are more established and reach the masses but maybe have sub par designs or are even lacking a website. Once you find them, you can offer them some suggestions on redesigning their site, offer them your help, or even design a basic website for them. This would all be in exchange for a text link ad, maybe a review of your site, or an other free advertisement.

By doing this you can use your skills to work for you instead of your wallet.

*Most people will be receptive to finding ways they can improve their business without the exchange of cash for services as well. So this is a great business opportunity for both sides, making it a win win situation.*

Some things to keep in mind.

Bartering is a great system, but don’t let the service you perform bog you down from improving your own business. Make sure you have the time to run, update, and enhance your blog or business as well as complete your terms of the agreements of your barter exchanges.

Also, if your business or blog has many writers or employees that you are paying to run and update your site, do not let them get bogged down by performing bartering services either, because then you will be paying for the services indirectly, negating the whole point of the barter system.

The barter system is a great way for businesses or blog to get the ball rolling with a small budget. So take a look at yourself and take a look at your skills and let them work for you.
