Mobile Blogging is Erupting, Why You Should Pay Attention

While I stick to blogging from my desktop or my laptop its important to note that a new movement is sweeping the blogosphere. Hopefully some of you have used it or have heard of it already but as the title suggests, its mobile blogging. Blog from your PDA, Cellphone or BlackBerry.

The great thing about this is that you can keep your users up to date with what’s going on no matter where you are. What’s the specific term for this? You guessed it: moblogs. How inventive.

Here’s a semi-official definition from Wikipedia:

A mobile weblog, or Moblog, consists of content posted to the Internet from a mobile or portable device, such as a cellular phone or PDA. Moblogs generally involve technology which allows publishing from a mobile device.

Want an example? Take a look at Joi Ito, the first proclaimed Moblog.

How does it work?

Early on in Moblogging users sent their media to a Moblog server via MMS or email. Recently software has become available which allows people to have the same rich experience they had while blogging from their PC (r).

Where can I get this software?

Some blogging platforms like WordPress have plugins that make this seamless. If you are going to invest your time into a blog then making it available to the growing number of mobile internet surfers is a must.
