Blog Readers Like Blogs with Skills
Heck yes, blog readers like blogs with skills. No, not nun chuck skills, not bow hunting skills,computer hacking skills, and not even if you can build them a cake or something, well maybe. But blog readers want skills and services that they cant find anywhere else, bottom line.
And it is up to you as an entrepreneur/blogger to think of these new inventive ways and to out them forth in ways the reader wants. Here are a few things bloggers need to do in order to show their readers they have skills, not just content.
Writing. The first “skill” you need to show your readers that you have, is that you can actually write. You want your readers to be able to flow from article to article knowing that you have the knowledge and content and that you can express it in a simple yet fashionable manner.
By fashionable I mean in a way that is pleasing to the eye. Don’t write 10 sentence paragraphs, try writing 3-4 sentence paragraphs. And by simple, don’t go crazy trying to explain something, break it down into easy bullet points, this will keep the readers attention.
Providing Services. Provide your readers with services. I don’t think people realize how much money this can make them. As traffic increases on your site, think of a service you can offer your users/visitor. You don’t have to make it expensive, but make sure you provide a service that you are good at, and an example on your service page (if you have one). Start small and inexpensive, and after you get a client offer them a larger service for more money.
If you are good at web design or graphics charge a small fee to help someone with their website logo, or formatting; if you are an accounting or finance whiz help, people to set up a basic a budget for their family or personal finances.and don’t be afraid to get personal with your clients.
Don’t be afraid to get personal with your clients either, you want to provide them the best service you can the way they want it.
Think Differently. This skill is both for your blog readers and yourself. You want to be able to think differently than everyone else. Thats what people like, out of the box thinking. So from a blog readers stand point, you are going to stand out from the rest, being able to offer your reader something he/she/it cant get anywhere else.
This is easier said then done, but look at other articles written on other sites, or on Digg, and put a new spin on it and thinking differently about that topic.
For yourself, you need the skill of thinking like an entrepreneur. Read DoshDosh’s Article on this, covers everything. Basically instead of looking at a site one way, look at it from different angles and see how it makes its money. Be open minded and learn from other sites and improve on their techniques.
Use Technology. The last skill you want to obtain is the skill of using all of the great technologies and medias on the web. Although they aren’t new, using YouTube, and making Podcasts are 2 among the many great ways to use technology to your advantage.
These tools will be able to keep your readers/user attention better than any text because of their convenience and ease of use. So learn how to use these and other technologies to spread your knowledge, services, and skills.

Remember to, balance thinking like a blogger, as well as a blog reader. Show the reader that you have skills that other blogs don’t. This will separate you from the rest.
