Writing Blog Content - Catering to the Reader is a Must

WritingReading a computer monitor is often strenuous business. Especially if you’re in an office environment where ten hours in front of the screen is commonplace. When writing your content always keep that fact in mind. Make your articles easy to read and add some visual aspects that cater to the reader.

Writing effectively and communicating your point is the main goal when you’re publishing your article. A lot of reader’s scan through articles so make sure to layout your posts thoroughly and intelligently. Let’s go through a couple of points & key things to remember.

1. Visuals are key - add pictures when relevant.

Pictures are really important. For one, they spice up the content and two, they keep the reader entertained and busy. No one likes to read thirty paragraphs on a web page without having anything to look at.

2. Enhance and stylize your text with proper formatting.

Use lists, bolding, italics, underlines, links, headers, and blockquotes to make your articles easier to scan through and read. By doing this, you can make the reader focus his or her attention specifically on where you want it to be. Don’t go overboard, keep it simple and effective.

3. Quotations.

Quotes are great, period. If you’re writing an article on ‘Motivation’, why not go to Google and type in motivational quotes and add them to your article. Believe it or not, it shows intelligence and thoughtfulness. Reader’s will appreciate it.

4. Spacing - clutter is difficult to read.

In one of my past articles I described this design element as absolutely necessary. Make your posts visually appealing! Space the paragraphs properly and keep them short and sweet. Paragraphs that blabber on for six-seven sentences are usually over empowering. Like I’ve said before, keeping it simple is the best way to catch and hold the reader’s attention.

5. Focus, elaborate and be definitive.

If you’re blurry about your topic, your readers will be too. Do the research, stick to the point and don’t beat around the bush. People these days want answers not runarounds.

I agree with each of your suggestions. Another suggestion is to write content that is controversial, or entertaining.

It’s hard to stand out in the crowd so being controversial can get a lot of ressponses, but be prepared to get blasted by some.

Entertaining your audience can be a matter of writing style, sine most of us are not Robin Williams. Be witty and funny and use plain English.

I totally agree with you, especially with the formating part. I find that doing good formating leaves a better impression and makes visitors stay longer too.

Excellent Advice again. I think I need to work harder on getting pictures that add to the readers experience - not ones that are just filler pictures. Nice Post.
