804$ Million in AdSense Revenue and Google Check Ends Up Bouncing?
Found this article about MobileJones, a blogger who’s AdSense check had bounced when she tried to deposit it into her bank account. You have got to be kidding me. If it is indeed true, which it seems to be (a Google representative contacted her about it), then Google has a mess of an accounting system.
They should have an overdraft protection blanket set up on their bank accounts. I don’t see how such a large corporation can be issuing bad checks. On a better note, I’ve personally have never had such a problem and have received payment promptly and correctly but it does make you wonder about how many AdSense publishers get the shaft.
Matt Cutts who is apparently a Google representative, commented on MobileJones’ blog with the following:
I’ve already seen people discussing this internally, so they’re checking into what happened. Sorry that you got an extra dose of comedy that you no doubt didn’t want.
I’m glad to see that there is some personal interaction going on here and that Google isn’t giving her the cold shoulder. Hopefully there will be more updates soon.

Speaking of Google, perhaps it’s time to admit that the emperor is buck naked? Google is no longer an asset to small business. It’s digressed into a black box designed to extract as much money as possible from small business while giving back as little value as possible. This piece explains why Adwords is something to be skeptical about: “Why Google Adwords is Not Helpful to Small Business” http://smartstartup.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/07/a-fable-doing-b.html

@FYI
Great point. I just skimmed through the article and it brings up some valid points. You can’t expect to start an AdWords campaign and have an award-winning website the next day.
A lot of it is skewered. Most people that click links stay on the targeted site for less than 30 seconds.
Good thorough way to bring the Josef K story to light in relation to the article. Thanks for commenting.
